How to Jailbreak Your iPhone: The Always Up-to-Date Guide [iOS 7.0.4]

                                    First Watch Video on YouTube
Jailbreaking is a process that changes little by little with each iOS upgrade. Rather than always publishing new guides, we're simply going to keep this one up to date. If you want to jailbreak your iOS device, you've come to the right page.
Current iOS Version: iOS 7.0.4
iOS 7.0.4 is the current version of iOS and is jailbroken!
Current Untethered Jailbreak: iOS 7.0.4
The Evasi0n jailbreak described in this guide works on any iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch running iOS 7.0 through 7.0.4. For additional jailbreak options for older versions of iOS, please see the list at the bottom of this page. As this guide is updated, previous versions of the guide will be archived there as well.
Current Tethered Jailbreak: iOS 7.0.4
We do not recommend tethered jailbreaking, as it requires you to connect your iDevice to your computer to boot it every time. This is especially bad with new operating system releases, as they tend to freeze up a bit more. You probably don't want your device freezing up and becoming unusable while you're out and about. Fortunately, the Evasi0n method described in this guide is an untethered jailbreak and it works on pretty much every device, so there's no reason you'd need to perform a tethered one. Tethered jailbreaks are only interim solutions when untethered jailbreaks aren't available. Because Evasi0n is available for the latest versions of iOS, you can just ignore this section for now.
Not sure if you should jailbreak?
We love jailbreaking our iDevices, but it's not for everybody. If you're not sure, you should read both our reasons not to jailbreak and why jailbreaking is awesome.

How to Jailbreak

Just follow these steps to jailbreak your iDevice, or watch the video above for a demonstration.
  1. Backup your iPhone (or other iDevice).
  2. Download Evasi0n for your operating system (Windows or OS X).
  3. Open up the Evasi0n app that you downloaded.
  4. Connect your computer to your iPhone (or other iDevice). If you have passcode lock enabled, go into the Settings app on your device and temporarily disable it in the General —> Passcode Lock section. (You can re-enable it after the jailbreak is complete.) Also, turn on Airplane mode to prevent any updates or data-driven apps from interfering with the jailbreak process.
  5. Back on your computer, click the Jailbreak button in the Evasi0n app window. It'll take awhile to upload some necessary jailbreak data, and your phone should restart during this process. Wait for Evasi0n to finish this step.
  6. As part of the process, Evasi0n installs a temporary jailbreak app on your device. When ready, it'll prompt you to open it. Simply unlock your device, then tap on the jailbreak app icon. It'll cause the screen to flash briefly but appear to do nothing. If you look at your computer, however, you'll find the jailbreak process continues. It'll finish in a minute or so and you can close Evasi0n on your computer. Your device will need to reboot a couple of times, but when you see your lock screen the process is done. Just navigate to Cydia and enjoy your new jailbreak!
Not sure what to install first? Check out our jailbreaking tag page for some ideas.

Jailbreaking Options for Older iOS Devices

The iOS 7 Jailbreak Is Here [UPDATE: Hold Off for Now]

The iOS 7 Jailbreak Is Here [UPDATE: Hold Off for Now]

After only a few months of waiting, the Evasion team has released a jailbreak tool for devices running iOS 7. The tool runs on Windows, OS X, and Linux. Download it out here, or check out our step-by-step guide to jailbreaking your device below.

Update: As the day has gone on, there's been a lot of talk about some fishy behavior on the part of the Evasion team and their software. At best, it's just very buggy, and at worst, it may be sending private user data to another site. At the moment, we recommend holding off on the jailbreak until we learn more. A lot of the information currently circulating is speculation, so keep an eye on this post and this Reddit thread for more information as it develops.

The opening of the two stores will result in 15 new jobs.

“We’re very excited to open our new Apple premium reseller stores,” iConnect director John McEvoy said.

“Customers can visit our stores to trial and purchase the full range of Apple products and accessories.”

The new stores will offer the complete range of Mac, iPad, iPhone and iPod along with a wide range of accessories.

'Fast & Furious' star Paul Walker killed in car crash

Paul Walker, a star of the "Fast & Furious" movie franchise, died Saturday in a car crash, according to his official Facebook page and verified Twitter account. He was 40.

Santa Clarita, California (CNN) -- Actor Paul Walker, who shot to fame as star of the high-octane street racing franchise "Fast & Furious," died Saturday in a car crash in Southern California. He was 40.

Walker's publicist Ame van Iden confirmed his death, but said she could not elaborate beyond statements posted on Walker's official Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Walker was a passenger in a friend's 2005 Porsche Carrera GT and both were attending a charity event for his organization, Reach Out Worldwide, in the community of Valencia in Santa Clarita, about 30 miles north of Hollywood.

The website for the charity said the Saturday event was intended to benefit victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

Speed was a factor in the crash, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office said.

The wreck took place about 3:30 p.m. (6:30 p.m. ET), about 300 yards from the office park where the event was held. The speed limit there is 45 mph.

Up and down the road near the crash site were burned rubber and doughnut marks as though someone smoked their tires in figure 8 patterns.

"I don't know if the marks in the road are related to the crash," said Los Angeles County sheriff's Sgt. Brian Allen.

Deputies arrived at the scene to find a vehicle on fire, he said

Once fire crews put the flames out, they found two occupants, both of whom were pronounced dead at the scene.

Saturday evening, all that remained was the burnt mangled metal of the red car and a light pole that had been knocked down.

The county coroner said that, given the condition of the bodies, it will take some time to definitively identify them.

Box office success

Walker's career began on the small screen, first with a commercial for Pampers when he was 2, and then with parts in shows such as "Highway to Heaven" and "Touched By An Angel."

His first few movie roles were as supporting characters in teen flicks, most notably in "Varsity Blues."

His career really took off when he was cast as undercover cop Brian O'Conner infiltrating a street-racing gang in 2001's "The Fast and the Furious."

The box-office success of the surprise summer hit yielded numerous sequels. And along with Vin Diesel, Walker was one of the franchise stalwarts.

At the time of his death, he was working on the seventh film of the franchise, due out next year.

Walker wasn't just a car enthusiast on the silver screen, off-screen, the actor competed in the "Redline Time Attack" racing series.

On his verified Twitter account, Walker described himself as "outdoorsman, ocean addict, adrenaline junkie ... and I do some acting on the side."

Walker also is the star of "Hours," an independent film scheduled to be released December 13 about a father struggling to keep his newborn infant alive in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.

Twitter and other social media exploded with reactions to Walker's death.

"Completely numb and saddened to hear of the tragic death of Paul Walker," wrote one.

Hollywood condolences came from Will Smith, Jack Osbourne, DMX and others.

"No, @RealPaulWalker. No. No. No," tweeted actress Alyssa Milano. Walker guest-appeared with her in the 80s comedy, "Who's The Boss?" "Rest with the angels. You. Sweet boy. #beauty #love #RIP."

He is survived by his 15-year-old daughter, Meadow.

iQi iPhone Wirless Charger : Want to add a skinny wireless charger to your iPhone?

Wireless charging add-ons tend to bring added bulk to an otherwise thin iPhone. That’s what makes iQi so interesting; it’s only 0.5 millimeters thick save for the lightning port. A review unit is on the way for testing.

Apple iPhones don’t support wireless charging unless you want to put a somewhat bulky case on them. That, of course, takes away from the thinness of the iPhone. But what if you could add wireless charging without the bulk? That’s the premise behind iQi — pronounced “i-chee” — a funded Indiegogo project that plans to deliver a skinny solution next month.

The iQi is a receiver for wireless energy and, as the name implies, is compatible with the Qi wireless power standard. The thickest part of the accessory is 1.4 millimeters; it’s the lightning port. The rest of the iQi, however, is just 0.5 millimeters thick. Most wireless chargers use a coiled wire inside, so the iQi must use very thin wire to keep its profile low.

To use the iQi, you plug it in to the lightning port of an iPhone 5, 5c, 5s or fifth-generation iPod touch and flip the rest of the accessory behind your device. From there, you’ll need a thin cover of your choice — although the iQi folks will sell you one — to keep it in place. So you’ll still need a case but you get to pick it and it will likely be far less bulky than standard wireless charging cases.

The iQi project still has a good week to go so if you want in on early-bird pricing, you can do so for as little as $25. The iQi charger is expected to retail for $35, so you can save a few bucks now. The company is also selling Qi-charging pucks if you need one.

I’ve been using a dual-device Qi charging pad for some Android devices for the past few months and have come to appreciate the convenience. It’s the type of technology that sounds mundane and useless but I’d actually miss it now that I’m used to it; it’s a no-brainer to drop my iPhone 5s on the nightstand charging pad before bed with no fuss.

I have an iQi review unit on the way, so stay tuned for a video look next week to see how it works.

Samsung Galaxy S5 vs Apple iPhone 5S – iOS 7 Phone vs Best Android Phone

iPhone 5s has been out for some time now and the Samsung Galaxy S5 is going to be out soon. The common thing between these smartphones is that they both will represent the launch of new versions of their respective operating systems. The distinct features are numerous as both these phones are completely different from each other. Many of you might think of buying the iPhone 5s, but some of you might also be looking to wait for the Galaxy 5s to show up.
Apple iPhone 5s, an underdog phone before its release, derived a lot of ‘awes and wows’ after its release. The Galaxy 5s is still in the dark and is probably going to be out in March 2014. The phone carries a lot of expectations given the reputation that the Galaxy phones hold. With both the smartphones featuring some excellent features, it will take some thinking to make a choice between them. A short individual summary of both the smartphones is given below followed by a comparison between the two phones taking into account their design, display, camera and other specifications.

Apple iPhone 5s

iphone-5s-box-phone
There is an interesting story to tell about the iPhone 5s. The speculations before its release and the reviews afterwards are as opposite to each other as night and day. The iPhone 5s looks very much like its predecessor in design and build-up. Also, the phone’s small screen size was one hot topic before its release, as most of its competitor smartphones were having comparatively bigger screens. Surprisingly, once the phone rolled out in the hands of the public, all what could be heard was the phone’s unexpected positive impact on the audience. It is fast, it is powerful, and some even claimed the phone to be the best smartphone out there. The phone runs the latest iOS7, has an improved camera over the iPhone and has the new fingerprint sensor. The smartphone has some great features and can challenge any other smartphone, however whether its superior features prove to be better than those of the Galaxy S5 is a story which will unfold in the comparison below.

Samsung Galaxy S5

Galaxy-S5-3D-camera
Who doesn’t love the Galaxy phones? The Galaxy S4 released in March 2013 achieved huge success worldwide. The success of Galaxy S4 increases the expectations of Galaxy phone lovers about the Galaxy S5. A lot of rumors are already out; the best of them being that the smartphone will have an all-metal body this time. With Apple introducing the powerful 64-bit A7 chip processor to its new devices like the iPad Air and the iPad mini as well as the iPhone 5s, the Galaxy S5 is very likely to shift to a 64-bit chip too, in order to compete with the other smartphones in the market. The Galaxy S5 will probably have a new squarer design and would miss the home button as it would have a touch screen home button. Many features are expected to be added to the phone. Some of the enhancements have already been guessed out and noticed which are highlighted in the comparison below.
Let us now proceed to the actual head-to-head comparison.

Design

iphone5s_dimensions
The iPhone 5s is not much different in design and body from its predecessor, but is a very good looking smartphone. It is light in weight, weighing just 112g or 3.95oz and is just 7.3mm thick. The phone has got new glass panels at the top and bottom of its rear which make it look better. Plus, the iPhone 5s does not have a home button like its predecessor because it has a new fingerprint reader this time to provide more cell phone security to the user.
Samsung-Galaxy-S5
The Galaxy S5 is expected to be a better looking phone. It is going to have an all-metal body. The phone will not have a home button and will feature a squarer design. The phone will also be weather and dust-proof.

Display

apple-iphone-5s
When it comes to display, there is no notable difference between the iPhone 5s and the former iPhone 5. The iPhone 5s has a 4-inch Retina display which offers 640 x 1136 pixels of resolution. The phone has a capacitive touchscreen with a density of 336 ppi.
samsung-galaxy-s5-rumors-specs-include-5-5-inch-flex-display-16-mp-sen
Galaxy S4 had a beautiful screen which we still can’t forget. The Galaxy S5 is also expected to present an equally impressive screen, if not better. The screen size is not known, but is expected to be somewhere around 5 inches. The resolution of the smartphone is expected to be at least 720 x 1280.

CPU and GPU

The iPhone 5s is a very powerful smartphone thanks to its new A7 chip and 64-bit architecture. The M7 coprocessor is added to give the phone an additional boost. The smartphone has a RAM of 1GB. These amazing hardware enhancements make the phone a lot faster compared to its ancestors.
As stated before, Apple has got a 64-bit chip for its new iPad Air, iPad mini and the iPhone 5s. Samsung Galaxy S5 is also likely to get a 64-bit Exynos 6 chip. The phone might also feature a 3GB RAM like the Galaxy Note 3.

Operating system

apple-ios-7-vs-google-android-kitkat
Apple iPhone 5s will run the latest iOS7 while the Galaxy S5 is most probable to run the Android Kitkat 4.4

Disk space

The iPhone 5s comes in three models, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. The Galaxy S5 is expected to have an internal memory of 32GB with an expandable memory card slot.

Camera

iphone_5s_isight_camera
New iPhone 5s has a much improved camera, but still cannot be considered the best amongst the smartphones. Slight enhancements and added features make the phone’s camera a better one than that of the previous version. It has an 8MP rear camera and a 1.2MP front camera.
samsung-galaxy-s5-camera
The Galaxy S5 is expected to feature a 16MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. In addition, the recently introduced ISOCELL camera technology by Samsung is very handy as it provides excellent exposure and less blur. So overall, the Galaxy S5 is expected to feature a quality camera which gives high-quality images.

Battery

The iPhone 5s has a non-removable Li-Po 1560 mAh battery which gives a battery backup of 250 hours at stand by and 10 hours talk time. The Galaxy S5 is expected to have a better Li-on removable battery of 3200mAH.

Conclusion

iPhone 5s is a very powerful and efficient phone, something its success worldwide has already proved. The Galaxy S5 is still to come out, but with the kind of rumors, expectations and speculations, the Galaxy S5 already looks a great phone. People confused between both the phones do not have much to choose between the phones, because both the phones offer outstanding features. The only difference is in the operating system, as both phones use completely different OS. Android lovers can opt for the Galaxy S5 while iOS users can go for the iPhone 5s without any doubt. Those who just want a smartphone which is fast, powerful and efficient are advised to wait till March next year. The iPhone 5s is an excellent phone and the Galaxy S5 has all the potential to be an excellent phone, so there is nothing wrong in waiting till the Galaxy S5 comes out and choosing the best phone according to the requirement.

Top 5 Samsung Galaxy S5 Features That Will Beat iPhone 6 on Release Date

Both Samsung Galaxy S5 and iPhone 6 are expected to hit the market early next year, most probably in March. Ever since, Samsung and Apple had been competing with each other to see which company and devices get ahead in the market. This will also be the case next year.
Below are the top five Samsung Galaxy S5 features that will surely beat the iPhone 6.
64 bit Chip Processor
Korean Herald reported that Samsung and ARM confirmed that they will soon launch a 14 nm 64-bit Exynos 6 CPU chips in 2014 and they will be featured in the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4. The unnamed ARM official said that the new processor will be similar to iPhone 5S' A7 processor. Moreover, Samsung's CEO of Mobile, Shin Jong-Kyun confirmed that 64-bit processors are coming on the future Samsung smartphones last September.
Retina scanner
If Apple's iPhone packs a Retina display and TouchID fingerprint scanner, Samsung Galaxy S5 will beat it with its rumoured retina scanner. This will add security to the handset just as the purpose of iPhone 5S' fingerprint sensor.
3-sided YOUM display
According to a report from Bloomberg, upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4 may feature may pack three-sided screen display. The latest display technology is called YOUM AMOLED display and reports claimed that the technology is in its development stage. The report said that new screen displays will offer users three different sides that are all functional.
16 MP ISOCELL Camera
One of the confirmed features of Samsung Galaxy S5 and Note 4 is a 16 MP ISOCELL camera sensor. The ISOCELL sensor is Samsung's new innovation in mobile cameras. The company said it improves picture quality by physically isolating individual pixels. According to Samsung, ISOCELL provides for better shooting in low-light conditions as well as higher color fidelity. It is the evolution of the BSI (Back Side Illumination) sensor, which itself evolved from the FSI (Front Side Illumination) camera. In the ISOCELL sensor, Samsung has reportedly erected a literal, physical barrier between every pixel. That amounts to less overlap in what the pixels absorb, creating higher-quality, sharper images.
Android 4.4 KitKat OS
It is speculated that the Samsung Galaxy S5 will be the first smartphone of the company to pack the latest Android 4.4 KitKat OS. Samsung always launched a new device when Google released a new Android OS. For example, Samsung launched the Galaxy Note 3 packed with 4.3 Jelly Bean OS before rolling out the update for its other devices. This may be the case on Android 4.4 KitKat OS.

iPhone 6 like Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus?

Apple iPhone 6

Needless to say, this concept probably won’t be anything like what the iPhone 6 will look like. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will be opening itself up to a whole new range of patent lawsuits from Samsung if it does follow this route. Nonetheless, it is interesting because if this one creator prefers the look of the Galaxy Nexus over that of the iPhone, then others may as well. In other words, Apple may indeed have lost its creative edge in terms of design.

The iPhone 6 concept was posted on Gdeluxe.com, and the creator calls it “a clean slate of glass” with “an all around [sic] smooth edge.” He has done away with all hardware buttons, suggesting that physical buttons are outdated.

The creator added a new sensor which “knows when you are interacting with your phone.” He also added next generation TouchID which recognizes swipe gestures of the fingers. The edges are smooth, and the power, volume and silent buttons are at the top of the phone. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s logo becomes a sensor button for the camera.

Another especially interesting part of this iPhone 6 concept is the size: just 4.7 inches. Sounds like he isn’t expecting Apple to increase the screen size of the handset beyond five inches either.

iPhone 6 Concepts In All-Black, Unbreakable Sapphire Screen

What will the iPhone 6 look like? Amidst the latest rumor that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is field testing a 4.9-inch iPhone 6, we continue to see new concepts for it. This new one is interesting because it looks a lot like the Galaxy Nexus. In fact, the creator admits that he got the idea from looking at his Nexus.

iPhone 6 with even smaller screen

And as the whole world clamors for the iPhone 6 to have a bigger screen, there’s another new concept posted on iTechNow.com which features an even smaller screen. The 4.4-inch screen is made of unbreakable sapphire, an idea which undoubtedly comes from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s deal with sapphire maker GT Advanced Technologies(NASDAQ:GTAT).

iPhone 6 Release Date Rumors: Larger 4.9-Inch Screen Tested By Apple For Next Generation iPhone

Apple iPhone 6 Rumors

Apple's next generation iPhone might boast a larger-sized screen if the latest rumor becomes a reality. According to Chinese site C Technology, the Cupertino tech company has begun testing a new iPhone with a 4.9-inch display, along with the iPhone 5c successor. Rumors for a larger screen on the mobile device is not new as larger-screen phones become more popular. A similar report came about this week regarding the iPad and according to The Korea Times, "The 12.9-inch iPad will have improved picture quality. As the Apple partner intends to boost its lineup for displays that have almost ultra high-definition (UHD) quality, the upcoming iPad will provide very clear quality similar to that of UHD.”
Speculation of a larger sized tabled is not new as rumors of a bigger screen iPad have always been rampant. In July of this year, The Wall Street Journal reported that the Cupertino company was testing larger screens for iPhones and iPads. "In recent months, Apple has asked for prototype smartphone screens larger than 4 inches and has also asked for screen designs for a new tablet device measuring slightly less than 13 inches diagonally, they said. The current iPhone 5 has a four-inch screen, while the iPad has a 9.7-inch screen. The iPad Mini, a stripped-down version of its tablet computer, has a 7.9-inch screen.
Black Friday is the best time to get some awesome deals on your favorite Apple gadgets. The Cupertino based company is known to offer their products at a premium and it is only this time of year when consumers can get the best deals. Black Friday is a major shopping day in the U.S. and with more than two weeks away, holiday discount shoppers are already on the prowl for the best deals this season. Target, Best Buy And Walmart are the top consumer electronic providers and will be offering discounts on a variety of popular Apple products include the new iPad Air and iPad mini as well as the new iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C.
In other Apple news, the Apple TV was been updated to include two new channels, Yahoo! Screen and PBS. The set-top box has included an app for Yahoo! Screen which is full of video clips from television shows and online resources. NBC's "Saturday Night Live" sketch show has a subchannel in the service where the best bits are made available for everyone to enjoy a day after they air. Sub-channels also include videos from Comedy Central, Martha Steweart, The Onion, Vogue, Popsugar, Wired, GQ and ABC News. It is a great addition to the Apple TV lineup that will entice holiday shoppers to gift this to friends and family. The U.S. public television system, PBS, also has a place in the new lineup which inclides over 5,000 hours of content. To enjoy the programming, users will have to sign in with Facebook, Google+ or their online PBS account, which give them access to their local PBS affiliate.

iPhone 6 Black is visionary and innovative

iphone-6-black-visionary

Many people are looking for Apple to come up with a completely revamped look for the iPhone 6 and there are plenty of ideas about what the next premium iPhone will offer. Now we want to show readers a new iPhone 6 Black Edition that has been envisioned with real innovation and would bring something very different to the table.

If you love this design then we should point out that this is a concept render of the iPhone 6.However it’s often interesting to look at concept designs as they show us inspiration for what may eventually appear.

This iPhone 6 Black Edition comes from designer Adrian Valenzuela and was motivated by the all touch screen of one of his earlier devices, the Galaxy Nexus. Thus this design does away with the physical Home Button, while the volume rockers, power and silent buttons have been repositioned at the top of the phone.

The sensored buttons will illuminate when touched but disappear when not in use leaving clean edges. The home button is replaced with a sensor on the bottom panel that offers haptic feedback when registering a touch. This is seen as the next-generation Touch ID, which featured on the iPhone 5S, and there are also soft LED notifications for when in silent mode.

Another cool feature is wireless charging where the handset is juiced by electrodes in the user’s body, solving forever the problem of battery life running out just when you least need it. Even the Apple logo acts as a sensor button when the camera app is opened and to preserve the clean slate look of the design the speakers are on the edges of the phone.

This iPhone 6 concept design has been envisioned with real flair and imagination and we think it’s rather exquisite. You can see more images at the source link below. You may also like to check out some other recent concepts for the iPhone 6 here and here.

We’d love to hear what you think of this iPhone 6 Black Edition concept. Do you think Apple has rather lost its edge when it comes to the design factor? Would you like to see Apple come up with something as visionary as this for the real iPhone 6? Let us know with your comments.
