Apple Acquires HopStop to Improve Maps

Apple's Maps have gotten plenty of complaints. One of the big ones was the lack of transit directions. For that, Apple told users to try a different mapping app, such as Google Maps, Mapquest, or HopStop. That last one was a popular option for people who just wanted a transit oriented app. By acquiring it, Apple's filling a hole in their app. By the time iOS 7 is actually released this fall, Apple could have added transit to their maps app, which will be on both iOS and Mac OS. Apple's taking a bet with Maps, so they're going to want to make sure it does everything users want it to.
